Operating Principles
The center operates with the following principles:
- Organizing is the most effective way to address workplace
problems. Most workplace problems are faced by many workers
and are best solved with the involvement of many workers.
- Workers must control the decisions affecting their lives.
Advocates, attorneys, pastors, and friends can help with information
and support, but workers must be actively involved in making
their own decisions.
- Challenging unjust systems often involves risks. Some workers
can take the risks. Others cannot. All workers' decisions will
be respected.
- All workers are welcome at the center regardless of race,
gender, religion, ethnicity, or citizenship status.
- All people with be treated with respect and dignity.
- All those with the Workers' Center will be encouraged to advocate
for just public policies on immigration and workplace issues.
